Kenneth Branagh Wins Oscar for Best Original Screenplay

Kenneth Branagh won his first Academy Award at the 94th Academy Awards for his semi-autobiographical film Belfast, which received the Best Original Screenplay award.
Branagh was up against Adam McKay and David Sirota (Don’t Look Up), Zach Baylin (King Richard), Paul Thomas Anderson (Licorice Pizza), and Eskil Vogt and Joachim Trier (The Worst Person in the World).
Accepting the award, Branagh said, “this is an enormous honour for my family and a great tribute to an amazing city and fantastic people… this story is the search for joy and hope in the face of violence and loss”.
