Barnstorm Theatre Company, Kilkenny, is seeking new plays to excite, challenge and entertain its family audiences in a series of open-air performances situated on park benches. Clandestine meetings, espionage, chance encounters – the socially-distant audience will ‘spy’ on the drama from afar in a unique theatre experience.

Each play will be 15 – 30 minutes in duration and confined to a park bench with up to 3 actors.

Writers are asked to submit a synopsis of their play idea with character description and sample dialogue.

A number of these ideas will be selected to be developed to first draft script for which writers will receive a development fee of €500.

The final pieces that make the selection will be given full production in Kilkenny as part Barnstorm’s 2022 summer programme. Those chosen for this phase will receive a commissioning fee.
