The Abbey Theatre is  hosting a two-hour workshop on the lessons playwrights can draw from the tradition of classical Greek drama, co-facilitated by Conor Hanratty, director of Na Peirsigh /Persians with Jesse Weaver, Abbey New Work Associate.

Exploring Classical Greek Drama
Date: Wednesday 20 March
Time: 3pm – 5pm

This is a two-hour workshop for playwrights to explore the structure, elements, and devices of classical Greek drama. Led and facilitated by Conor Hanratty, director of Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill’s translation of Na Peirsigh/Persians, and Abbey Theatre New Work Associate Jesse Weaver, this workshop will look at specific examples from classical Greek drama that will serve as starting points for discussion and practical writing exercises. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear about the process of bringing our production of Na Peirsigh/Persians to the stage and find practical ways to incorporate elements of classical Greek drama into their writing.

The workshop is open to playwrights at any stage of their career. It is free to attend, with limited places available. Attendees will also be offered a ticket for the 8pm performance of Na Persigh/Persians on Tuesday 19 March.
