Two panel discussions tackled the current transposition of Articles 18 to 23 of the 2019 EU Copyright Directive into national law.

A Conference on the implementation of the 2019 Copyright Directive took place on 23rd June 2022

The conference was co-organised by the European Writers’ Council (EWC), the Federation of European Screen Directors (FERA) and the Federation of Screenwriters in Europe (FSE).

The two panel discussions tackled the current transposition of Articles 18 to 23 of the 2019 EU Copyright Directive into national law (one year after the deadline for implementation) and delved into the concrete next steps for implementing those provisions.

FSE Executive officer and former WGI Director David Kavanagh took part in the second panel, which discussed practices to improve authors’ contracts and renumeration, concerns around work for hire, buyouts and practices of streaming platforms.
