Keeping WGI Membership Accessible
Dear writers,
At our recent AGM, a member suggested we might consider raising our fees, given they’ve stayed the same since 2018. The proposal was carefully discussed at Board level, and it was ultimately decided that the fees will remain unchanged across all tiers.
Keeping membership fees as low as we can seems more important than ever right now, given the skyrocketing cost of living, and the ongoing struggle you all face just to survive as writers. We also believe the extraordinary growth in WGI membership simply would not have happened if access to our wide range of services had not been affordable to all writers on the island.
We sincerely hope you value the work we do. We hope that every time you’re prompted to renew, you see the value in the contract services we offer, in the events and celebrations we host throughout the year, in the lobbying we do on your behalf, in the resources we make available on our website, and in the “heated debates” we have with those organisations and individuals who incur your, and therefore our wrath… We hope you continue to see the value in the increasingly vibrant and tight-knit community of writers you’ve all helped to create.
840 members and counting. And I promise that we value each and every one of you.
Le grá,
Ciarán
