Are you a screenwriter with a climate themed Film or TV story? 

Call for screenwriters to present their Climate themed TV and Film projects to changemakers and community climate action groups at Climate Carnival festival this September. Climate Carnival brings together 1000 leaders, builders and decision makers to work across systems to shape our future. 

The writers will have two minutes each to pitch/present their Film/TV stories to the community members, activists and changemakers at Climate Carnival whose first-hand experiences and expertise, intergenerational and collective wisdom will power regenerative storytelling solutions to the climate crisis.

In these love stories, thrillers, dramas, comedies, supernatural stories, horror stories, animations, each place setting – whether bog, coastline, damp council flat or meadow, will have its own arc, desire and presence. In these stories, there won’t be any grand technological fixes, instead the characters will be just like us, neighbours, friends, kids, elderly, members of all communities, solving problems at a scale their hands can touch. 

Where: Ballintubbert House and Garden, Stradbally, Co Laois.

When: September 16 (writers must be available all day on September 16)

Who is the audience? 1000 changemakers and climate community activists, dreamers and doers, sustainability advisors, artists, musicians, journalists, scientists, poets, etc, people to form community around your stories.

Payment: Writers will be paid 200 euro’s each + bus/train day return ticket (to Athy train station) and lunch will be provided.

How to apply: Please write a short writers bio, a high res photo of yourself, a short synopsis of your project, whether Film or TV, the genre, ‘tag’ the climate themes/words relevant to your project for example, biodiversity, bogs, lakes, weather events, famine, soil, sea, mining, LNG, political ignorance, climate refugees, farmers, drought, wildfires, and rewilding, rewetting, regenerative, etc, etc. 

Why should I apply? Climate stories are strongest when they live inside character, place, and community, successful stories reflect the world we live in. And having a community of experts, community climate action members, other artists and activists, with lived experience, first hand knowledge will nurture the stories and the writers.
