The Mayo County Council Film Bursary Award is a once-off award of €15,000 offered by Mayo County Council and Film Mayo to commission an original film by a Mayo-based filmmaker or filmmaking team. The award marks the formal launch of Film Mayo and reflects Mayo County Council’s commitment to the county’s screen culture, its filmmaking talent, and its profile as a location for national and international production.  The award will be managed by Mayo County Council Arts Service.  One award will be made through this bursary. 

Objectives

The award aims to:

• Commission an original film that showcases the talent of Mayo-based film professionals
• Generate a body of screen work that reflects the breadth of Mayo’s stories, communities, and locations
• Increase the visibility of County Mayo as a film-friendly county with a distinct creative landscape
• Strengthen capacity and activity within the local screen sector

Applications are now open. The closing date for submission of applications is Friday, July 31st at 5pm.
