Shane Meadows Short Film Bursary
Boyne Valley International Film Festival is accepting submissions for the BVIFF 2026 Shane Meadows Short Film Bursary.
BVIFF are now inviting screenwriters to pitch a short film idea by email, no longer than 2 pages.
Four filmmakers will be shortlisted by a panel (TBC) and awarded a €500 bursary. Each of the four shortlisted filmmakers will be invited to present their short film idea on Sunday, 9 August, and will pitch in person to our judges (not to an audience). Finalists must attend in person at Barlow House, West St., Drogheda. You cannot use any props, visuals, or presentations in your pitch. The panel will delve deeper into the story, asking questions and chatting about the script. Finalists will be with the judges for a total of 15 minutes, and we hope this will be a more relaxed interaction than an intense pitch.
The overall winner will receive a further bursary of €2,500 and will be provided with mentorship and free studio/office space for 6 months in Barlow House to write and develop their screenplay.
