The animation series The Grumpy Onion, penned by WGI members Bobby Moloney and Leticia Agudo, together with their Whackala co-director Paul McGrath, is now out on RTÉ.

The Grumpy Onionis a fun series aimed at children 7 and over about an onion who wants to be an online star. He is desperate to replicate the success of the biggest influencers on VegTube, it doesn’t matter in what. Cooking, unboxing, gaming… whatever, he’ll give it a go. But his grumpiness always wins over, making things spiral out of control. Each of the 12 short episodes is a cheeky take on online trends. They are available in English and as Gaeilge at the same time in RTÉ Kids TV and the Player. 

The Grumpy Onion is an entirely Irish-own idea and programme, made with the support of RTÉ, Fís Eireann, Coimisiún na Meán and incentives for the Irish Film Industry provided by the Government of Ireland. Whackala were able to provide additional training thanks to the extra support from Animation Ireland’s National Talent Academy.
