Screen Ireland is partnering with Prelude Skills on this 3-day course for production crew currently working on film and TV drama productions, who are interested in moving into writing for film and TV drama, taking place from Thursday, 2nd, Friday, 3rd and Saturday, 4th April 2026, from 10am to 4pm each day.

The course covers the practices and practicalities of screenwriting and development, including story, worlds and characters, dialogue, formatting, script writing techniques and pitching, it also looks at approaching producers, funders, broadcasters and streamers and explores how they can use their existing production knowledge and experience to start a new career as a film or TV drama writer.

Modules include film and TV concept & plot (establishing concept, theme & tone, pacing and structure), creating characters, understanding dialogue, writing the script, creating synopses, treatments, bibles and other materials, and working as a creative in the industry & using existing skillsets.
