About Script Biz:

With the support of Screen Ireland’s Screen Stakeholder funding scheme, The Writers’ Guild of Ireland (WGI) is delighted to host a one-day hybrid business skills for writers seminar on Wednesday 8th April 2026 in the Hyatt Centric Hotel in the Liberties, Dublin 8. Following the success of last year’s event, this will be the second year of the initiative which will equip writers with essential legal and financial knowledge, and help them develop negotiation skills. This will empower writers to protect their rights, secure fair deals, and take on larger industry roles.

Across the day, participants will receive expert tuition in writers’ rights, contracts 101, negotiation and leadership skills, and finance. This year, there will also be a session on AI, and expert tips on choosing and designing a workspace for optimum wellbeing and creativity.

Following on from this there will be additional webinars designed to further enhance and develop your business skills.

WGI would like to encourage members who belong to any group which may be underrepresented within society (for example on the grounds of gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, socio-economic or any other factors), to participate in this event.

Please note:

  • Script Biz is open to all screenwriters working in both the English and Irish language.
  • Applicants should be a member of WGI.
  • Applications are particularly welcomed from screenwriters from underrepresented communities, and will be selected on the basis of achieving diversity and balance in the room to create an inclusive and open space for creative development.
  • This is a hybrid event. It will be held in-person in Dublin, with online access available for those who can’t attend in-person.
  • A stipend is available for those with caring responsibilities or additional needs. In order to facilitate this, please get in touch via email in advance: [email protected]
  • In-person spaces will be limited, however those who are not selected will be able to attend online.
