The Lir Academy’s MFA programme in Playwriting is currently accepting applications for autumn 2026. 

The Academy has also opened up the Patricia Leggett Scholarship for this year. The recipient of this will receive full fees for the Playwriting MFA. This is open to anyone living on the island of Ireland.

The playwriting programme is hybrid, with participants only required to be in Dublin 2 consecutive days of the week (1 overnight).

As a conservatoire, The Lir Academy offer practical, hands-on training in small classes with dedicated practicing course directors who are recognised leaders in their field. Programmes can be taken full-time over 13 months and part-time over two years.
