2009 Best Film Script Award Winner for Hunger

Born in Dublin, Enda Walsh writes for the stage, screen, and radio. His work has been translated into several languages, and in 2011 he adapted the John Carney film Once for the stage.

Hunger is the story of the Irish republican Bobby Sands and depicts his struggle as he leads fellow inmates in a Northern Irish prison in a hunger strike. The film won the Camera d’Or prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
