Best Game Script

• Christopher Conlan for The Little Acre

Best wishes to all the nominees on being acknowledged for their hard work in the industry. We appreciate the help of all the theatre companies, production companies, producers, agents, and helpful admin who have aided us in bringing the event together.

ZeBBie Awards Ceremony

The 2017 ZeBBie Awards Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, 28 June 2017 in The Sugar Club, 8 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2, and it will be hosted by Senator David Norris.

Doors open at 7.30 pm, and the ceremonies begin at 8.00 pm.

The ceremony is free to fully paid up members of the Guild.

Dress Code: writer chic.

Voting

Voting is now open and Guild members should have received an email with details on how to vote.

Voting closes at 3pm on Monday, 22 May 2017.

Would you like to write a play for RTÉ radio? Kevin Reynolds (Series Producer) and Kevin Brew (Producer) of the RTÉ Radio’s Drama on One team will give a ‘Lucky Dozen’ talk on Writing Radio Drama to members of the Writers Guild of Ireland at 7pm on Thursday, 16 February in our office at Temple Bar, Dublin.

This free talk will cover:

• Writing for radio; how it differs from other media (the creative opportunities and the challenges)
• What makes a strong radio play
• Thoughts on genre, content/theme, tone
• Writing credible dialogue
• Use of sound, music, atmosphere
• Scene length and construction
• Defining and differentiating characters
• Creating a pleasing variety via stylistic decisions
• Required script length and layout
• The submission process
• Payment rates and contract terms
• Common errors

It’s a terrific opportunity to find out exactly what RTÉ expect from their radio dramas.
