New Members

Please note: new memberships cannot be finalised until both the online application form is filled out completely and the membership fee is paid.

To join fill out the online application and then pay the appropriate fee depending on the membership category.

There are two categories of membership:


This category is for writers who have not been contracted to write for payment yet, but are working to establish themselves in the industry. Associate members may attend the Annual General Meeting, but cannot stand for election or vote.

Fee: €60 per annum.


This category is for writers who have been contracted to write for payment in Ireland for the stage, screen, radio or digital media. Full membership includes all entitlements to attend the AGM, vote and stand for election.

Fee: based on earnings from writing only during the previous year.

C €10,000 – €15,000 €110
D €15,000 – €20,000 €135
E €20,000 – €30,000 €160
F €30,000 – €50,000 €185
G €50,000 and above €215

If you join after March of any given year, please determine your fee on a pro rata basis, i.e. for Associate Members that would be: half-year €30, quarter-year €15, etc.

Once you have joined WGI membership runs on an annual basis, from January – December, so fees are due in January every year.


  • Members can pay via PayPal, or send a cheque or postal order for the correct amount to: The Writers Guild of Ireland, Art House, Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2. Cash payments can be made to our office in person. We issue receipts and membership cards by post to all members. If you have any queries do not hesitate to contact us.
