Real Deal Podcasts

If you missed out on attending the Real Deal at this year’s Galway Film Fleadh, which took place in the Radisson on Thursday 8th July, you can now listen to the podcasts on Bord Scannán na hÉireann/ the Irish Film Board’s Media Hub.

This year’s Real Deal comprised of two separate sessions:

  • A Morning Debate – What’s Your Story?  And Why?

The morning session of the Real Deal was a free-for-all, round table debate among producers and anyone working in independent film discussing a wide range of topics such as genre, adaptation, auteurism, 3-D, edginess and how our choices are changing in the face of new realities.

  • An Afternoon Conversation – Drawing From The Script

This session discussed the content of animated films with special guests, world-class animators, Lee Unkrich and Darla K. Anderson of Pixar Animation.  Lee is the director of Toy Story 3; he also co-directed Monsters, Inc and Finding Nemo and worked as editor on Toy Story and A Bug’s Life.  Meanwhile Darla produced Toy Story 3 and previously produced A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc and Cars.

Christian O’Reilly Podcast

Christian O'ReillyWe’re delighted to add a podcast to our web site featuring screenwriter and ZeBBie Award-winning playwright Christian O’Reilly, who is also a member of the Irish Playwights and Screenwriters Guild.

Christian was interviewed in March by Claire O’Mahony for the Internet Radio Z103, and our thanks to Claire for allowing us to use the podcast on our web site.

This year Christian was the judge for the Eamon Keane Full Length Play award at Listowel Writers Week, and during the interview Christian describes the kind of playwriting that grabs his attention and offers insights into what makes an award-winning play.

Hare Podcast

The latest Podcast on The Stage is with playwright David Hare, who is best known for his stage productions including Stuff Happens, The Vertical Hour and Gethsemane, and he was nominated for an Oscar this year for his screen adaptation of The Reader. Earlier this year Hare also acted as judge for the prestigious Yale Drama Series Prize for emerging playwrights.
