Listowel 2011The Listowel Writers’ Week (1 – 5 June 2011) is offering a number of workshops during its festival, one of which will be of interest to our members.

Writing for Screen with Mark O’Halloran
Mark is a writer/actor from Ennis, Co. Clare. His first screenplay Adam & Paul was shot in 2004. He also wrote the screenplay for the movie Garage which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2007 and was awarded the CICAE award for best film. Mark has also written the television series Prosperity which was broadcast in 2007. He has been nominated for numerous awards including a European Film Award for Adam & Paul, Irish Film and Television Awards for best screenplay and best TV writer 2007. He also won the London Evening Standard Award for best screenplay in 2005. He currently has a number of projects in development.

Course Theme:
A series of workshops intended for both beginners and the more experienced writers, which will focus on character exploration and development. From a number of simple exercises, the participant will learn to produce a database of stories and fully rounded characters, effortlessly building over the following days toward the development of story arcs and scene exploration. These workshops are intended as a forum for debate, exploration and practical empowerment.

Workshop Information:
Each three-day Workshop will run from 9.00am – 1.00pm on: Thursday 2nd June, Friday 3rd June and Saturday 4th June 2011.

Places are limited to 15 per workshop.
Workshop Fee: €175.00 for each three-day workshop
