Short Steps in NI

16th September 2010 by Maura McHugh

Northern Ireland ScreenNorthern Ireland Screen has announced the launch of Short Steps, a development scheme for short films.

The Scheme has twenty places available to Northern Ireland resident filmmakers.

The Scheme will provide filmmakers with the resources and knowledge to make either a no-low budget short film or a financed short film. The Scheme will encourage a collective approach to short filmmaking, collaboration and networking amongst the peer group.

Call for entries

The call for entries closes on Friday 8 October 2010.

Promotional event

Northern Ireland Screen will be hosting a promotional event at the Black Box, Hill Street, Belfast on Friday 17 September from 12pm to 3pm. Participants will be able to discuss any queries and bring their project for feedback prior to application.

Production options

The projects will be assessed with a view to the optimum route to production at the end of the development process.

Who can apply?

The Scheme will be open to entry level filmmakers (writers and directors) as well as filmmakers who wish to move into short film from a different medium (e.g. photography, fine art). We will encourage applications from local university and college graduates as well as entry level filmmakers already working on indigenously made films at trainee level.

Information on the application process is available on the web site.
