If you missed out on attending the Real Deal at this year’s Galway Film Fleadh, which took place in the Radisson on Thursday 8th July, you can now listen to the podcasts on Bord Scannán na hÉireann/ the Irish Film Board’s Media Hub.

This year’s Real Deal comprised of two separate sessions:

  • A Morning Debate – What’s Your Story?  And Why?

The morning session of the Real Deal was a free-for-all, round table debate among producers and anyone working in independent film discussing a wide range of topics such as genre, adaptation, auteurism, 3-D, edginess and how our choices are changing in the face of new realities.

Chaired by: Simon Perry (IFB)
Presented by the IFB in association with Ateliers du Cinéma Européen

  • An Afternoon Conversation – Drawing From The Script

This session discussed the content of animated films with special guests, world-class animators, Lee Unkrich and Darla K. Anderson of Pixar Animation.  Lee is the director of Toy Story 3; he also co-directed Monsters, Inc and Finding Nemo and worked as editor on Toy Story and A Bug’s Life.  Meanwhile Darla produced Toy Story 3 and previously produced A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc and Cars.
