28th June 2010 by Maura McHugh

Galway Theatre Festival 2010

The Galway Theatre Festival (25 – 31 October 2010) has issued a Call for Scripts of unproduced play for the Rehearsed Reading Series at this year’s festival.

A short-list will be announced by mid-September and the final selection will be made in the following weeks. Those writers whose scripts have been chosen will be invited to sit in on the rehearsal process and attend all of the festival’s Rehearsed Readings.

GUIDLEINES

  • The submitted script must not have been previously produced or be scheduled for a production
  • Plays can be of any genre so long as they are written in either English or Irish
  • Submissions are open to Irish or Ireland-based writers only
  • Two copies of the script must be submitted.

One in hard copy to:

New Scripts
Galway Theatre Festival
47 Dominick Street
Galway

And one in electronic form to: scripts.gtf@gmail.com

  • Ensure your electronic copy is labelled with the full play title.
  • We request that you include contact details on a separate page at the back of your script. You may include a brief biog if you wish but it is not mandatory.
  • Plays should be between 40 – 60 minutes in length (one page = approx. one minute). Scripts of excessive length will not be considered. The final selection of scripts in 2009 were 40 – 50 pages long.
  • Writers should be mindful of casting. Plays with large amounts of characters are unlikely to be selected due the difficulty of casting. It is advised that you do not exceed seven significant characters per script.
  • Scripts should be properly formatted

Last date for receipt of submissions (both hard copy and electronic): Friday 13th August 2010.

More information about the submission process is available on the web site.
